Transport

Moving around Madrid

Madrid has a wide public transport network, including the Metro (underground), city buses, Cercanías Renfe (commuter trains), and green interurban buses. To see how to get around the city, check Madrid Tourism - Getting Around the City

  • Metro and EMT city buses (the red and blue ones) share the same ticket system. You can use a rechargeable Multi card to move easily between them.
  • Cercanías Renfe trains are part of the commuter rail network but have their own ticket system, separate from the Metro and buses.
  • The green buses are interurban buses, which connect Madrid with towns in the surrounding region. These also use a separate ticket, and you'll usually buy it directly from the driver or at a kiosk.

Important: Renfe operates both Cercanías (local) and medium-/long-distance trains, so make sure you’re choosing the right one when booking tickets. Cercanias is for Madrid, the trains take you to other regions or cities.

Taxis from Barajas Airport to the city center have a flat rate of 33€. If you’re heading to or from the outskirts, fares start at 22€. Official Madrid taxis are white with a red stripe and a green rooftop light — easy to recognize -  look at them here.

If you're traveling from the airport to Talavera de la Reina, you'll first need to reach either the Estación Sur bus station (Metro stop: Méndez Álvaro) or one of the main train stations: Chamartín or Atocha. Madrid is a large city, so getting from the airport to these stations can take time — make sure to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

Keep in mind that getting around Madrid can take time and add to your travel costs. The airport is not centrally located, and depending on your route, you may need to switch between metro, train, or bus lines. Public transport is reliable but may involve transfers and waiting times — especially if you're trying to catch a specific bus or train to Talavera. Allow for delays, check schedules in advance, and factor in the cost of local tickets or taxis when planning your journey.

Accommodation

In Talavera de la Reina

Talavera de la Reina is the closest city. It has several hotels, Airbnbs, and aparthotels. It’s also where the local train and bus stations are located — a convenient option if you're coming from out of town.

Since it's a city, you'll find everything you might need nearby: shops, restaurants, cafés, pharmacies, and more.

Near the venue

There are holiday homes in the area that can accommodate 8 to 14 people, usually with a two-night minimum stay. The cost is around €40 per person per night (based on full occupancy). If you're interested in this option and open to sharing with other guests, get in touch with Maria or Jimmie.

Not far from the venue, on the other side of the lake, there’s also a campsite that offers bungalows (cabins) for rent. We’ve reached out to them and will share more info as soon as we have it.

Keep in mind that the area around the venue is mostly residential or natural, so services and amenities are more limited than in Talavera.
